Why choose KOM USA

Licensed and insured

Both, on every job. It is worth asking any contractor to show you — including us.

Metro Detroit only

Wayne, Oakland and Macomb. Local enough that turning up matters to us.

Honest pricing

Where a job can be priced up front, it is — set before we arrive, not after. Where it genuinely depends on what we find, we quote once we have seen the work, because a number given any earlier is a guess.

One team for both trades

Maintenance and construction under one roof, so the people who build it are the people you call afterwards.

Common demolition questions

What does a demolition job include?

Our demolition work can include interior strip-outs, structure removal, and hauling away the resulting debris. The exact scope depends on what needs to come out and what needs to stay. We inspect the job first and quote the work based on that scope.

Do you take away the debris?

Yes. Hauling away demolition debris is part of the job. We also offer trash removal when you need unwanted material removed without a larger demolition project. We price the work after seeing what needs to be removed.

Does demolition need a permit?

Some demolition work requires a permit, especially structural removal or larger projects. Requirements depend on the type of work and the municipality where the property is located. Permit needs should be confirmed before work starts rather than assumed from the size of the job.

What about asbestos or lead paint in an older house?

We do not remove asbestos or perform lead abatement. If either material may be present, we stop and determine whether testing or a qualified specialist is required before demolition begins. Disturbing these materials can release hazardous fibers or dust.

How long does an interior demolition take?

It depends on the area being demolished, what must be removed, access to the site, and what must remain. An interior demolition project in a property under about 1,500 square feet may take roughly 1 week. Larger or more complex projects take longer.

Can you demolish part of a room and leave the rest?

Yes, selective demolition can remove specific finishes, fixtures, walls, or other parts of a space while leaving surrounding areas in place. We need to see what is being removed and what must remain before quoting the job, especially when structural components or utilities are nearby.

How do you protect the rest of the house during demolition?

It depends on the scope. For a kitchen demolition, we cover the flooring along the route to the dumpster, seal the room entrance with a zippered dust barrier, and use a negative-air machine to exhaust dust outside. These measures help keep dust from spreading through the house.

What do I need to do before demolition day?

Remove personal belongings and anything you want to keep from the work area. For a kitchen, this includes plates, silverware, food, and everything inside the cupboards. If you prefer, we can clear the area for an additional fee.
